UWEC Spring Program

SPRING PROGRAM

The spring program is sponsored by our partner UWEC University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire developed in Costa Rica by Costa Rica Study Abroad S.A

This program offers the student a full immersion experience into a Spanish speaking country, while learning about different aspects of the Latin American reality.

During the semester each student will have the opportunity to take:

Ø Two different level spanish courses, taught by expereinced professionals using the mostmodern teaching tecniques trough ESL.

Ø Live and enjoy the warmth of the Costa Rican people trough daily contact with host families and ticos everywhere.

Ø Know and learn about Costa Rica’s ecology and biodiversity as well as enjoy its nature wonders taking the Conservation of Sustainability Seminar.

Ø Approach the most important historical events developed in Central America by taking the History and Civilization of Central America seminar.

The program includes field visits and trips to places like museums, markets, zoos, theatres, butterfly gardens, national parks and many other interesting and exiting places, so that the student gets to explore the different faces of beautiful Costa Rica. Also trips to beaches, forests and natural reserves such as Manuel Antonio National Park, Puerto Viejo, Cahuita, Santa Rosa National Park and an incredible 4 day adventure to the oldest colonial city in America, Granada, Nicaragua, where the student will be able to appreciate up close it’s natural beauty, handcrafts and Nicaraguan Culture by visiting Masaya, the Laguna de Apoyo (former volcano crater) and much more!!

A unique opportunity for these program students is the chance to be involved in a two week Community Project (CSL) at a rural site. Two weeks to share with economically challenged families at a humble community and work together with them to improve the local school building and above all give youngsters a new perspective of the world and open a span of possibilities for their lives, for sure a great experience that will stay with the student for life!!!!

CREDITS: Learn 12-14 credits, depending on the Spanish level of the student
